Misty Brinlee, Founder of Heritage Equine Foundation
A lifelong rider called to share the joy of horses.
Misty found her passion in helping others see the joy and enjoyment of horses.
A lifelong rider who was greatly influenced by her grandfather, Misty grew up in the saddle. Her grandfather taught her to respect the animal, listen to the cues, and lead with compassion. From her earliest days riding, competing in rodeos, and barrel racing across arenas, horses were not simply a pastime — they were family, discipline, and a cherished heritage.
Over the years, Misty realized her true calling reached beyond the show ring and speed events: it was using the remarkable spirit of horses to bring healing, confidence, and peace to others. That calling became the Heritage Equine Foundation in Rosepine, Louisiana.
Today, she dedicates her time and heart to helping individuals battling disabilities, while welcoming military families with open arms. Her mission is to ensure that anyone who needs the healing touch of a horse has a safe, supportive place to find it.

Inspired by Her Grandfather
"My grandfather taught me that horses see right through to your heart. Everything we build at Heritage Equine Foundation is rooted in the patience, horsemanship, and gentle respect he showed every horse and rider."
— Misty Brinlee
"The horse doesn't care what you've been through. It cares how you show up today. That's where the healing starts."
